Slalom challenge for TV star at Preston Park
TV star Jesse McClure will visit Preston Park Museum and Grounds this Saturday to meet and greet visitors and take on a bizarre slalom challenge.
Californian Jesse is the standout star of hit American reality show Storage Hunters, which became UKTV’s most watched show when aired here on its “Dave” channel. His popularity with viewers also led to guest appearances on British spin-off Storage Hunters UK, with the latest series currently airing on Dave on Tuesday nights.
Instantly recognisable for his black leather jacket and cool shades and sideburns look, Jesse’s laid-back style belies his encyclopaedic knowledge of the antiques and collectables trade.
As the king of storage, Jesse is also brand ambassador for North Yorkshire-based business PlasticBoxShop, the UK’s leading online retailer of plastic boxes in all sizes, styles, colours and applications. Founded in Thirsk by Gary and Lisa Lyons and now based in Northallerton, it supplies a massive range of plastic box storage solutions for the home and business through its website, www.plasticboxshop.co.uk
Currently in the UK to work with PlasticBoxShop, Jesse was keen to explore local heritage sites to indulge his love of history and antiques. Preston Park, at Eaglescliffe, with its historic hall, fascinating museum and Victorian Street is the perfect choice.
Jesse had also hoped to visit the attraction’s skate park, but it is currently closed for maintenance. Undeterred, he will test his skills on a unique slalom challenge outside the museum. He will ride the latest must-have gadget – a SegTech Balance Board – around a slalom course set up using PlasticBoxShop products.
“I’m really looking forward to a fun day out on Saturday,” said Jesse. “You guys in the UK always give me such a warm welcome and I can’t wait to visit Preston Park Museum – I’ve heard a lot about it.
“The slalom should be fun too. I used to skateboard a lot when I was a kid in the States, but this new balance board from Segway is a whole different ball game!”
Jesse is due to visit Preston Park Museum and Grounds from 1pm this Saturday and is always happy to meet Storage Hunters fans and sign autographs.
